ASSESSMENT
On my placement at St John's Lutheran School I planned and taught a unit on fractions. Prior to beginning the unit I conducted a pre-test on the topic of fractions. This assisted me in recognising what students already knew and what they still needed to be taught. Results from the pre-test assisted me in planning what was to be included throughout the unit. During the unit I took anecdotal records on the progress of each student. These notes enabled me to keep a record of what students were achieving, and any areas that they were struggling with, or where they required additional assistance. These could then be referred back to in following lessons or at a later date to. At the end of the unit I completed a post-test that was very similar to the pre-test. I was able to compare student results from the two tests and identify what students had learnt throughout the unit.
