My Teaching Philosophy:
I believe that each child is an individual and that not all students learn in the same way. Therefore I want to take this into consideration with my teaching and ensure that I use a range of strategies and activities that cater for visual, auditory and kinaesthetic learners. I will incorporate hands on activities into my teaching as I believe that students learn by doing. Incorporating hands on activities into the classroom not only enables students to make meaning, but it also draws students in and gets them engaged and interested in what they are learning. I believe that it is vital that students form connections about what they are doing, and that they recognise why they are learning what they are. I will strive to ensure that my teaching is relevant to real-life and that it will equip students with the skills that they will need to become contributing members of society. I want the students in my class to be active participants in their learning, for them to have an input into the teaching and learning that occurs, and for them to become independent learners who will continue to learn and develop well beyond their school years. I aim to build a relationship with each child in my class, getting to know them on a personal level. Which will in turn assist me in taking into consideration their individual needs, interests, learning style and background. I want to be someone who my students can trust and rely upon. My goal is to create a classroom that is a positive learning environment which enables each individual to reach their full potential.
