ASIAN PERSPECTIVES
I am familiar with the strand of Asian Perspectives in the Australian curriculum. As history is my major I have completed the subject of Chinese history which provided me with an insight into the Chinese culture. As a part of my university course I have also conducted research into different ways in which I could incorporate the teaching of Asian Perspectives into my classroom, such as through art, language and traditions. While I have some experience with certain aspects of the Asian culture I also recognise that this subject is quite broad and therefore I acknowledge that this is a strand that I can continue to develop and broaden my knowledge on.

While on placement at St John's Lutheran school I taught a lesson on Chinese New Year. The objective of this lesson was for students to learn about the Chinese culture and Chinese New Year and learn about some of their traditions. A Chinese student in the class also shared some of his own experiences with the class. It was a fun hands on lesson which got students thinking about different cultures.
Below is a Power Point I constructed on the 'One Child Policy' as a part of the subject of Chinese history. This allowed me to gain a background knowledge as to why the Chinese Government decided to implement the 'One Child Policy'.
