STUDENT PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
While on placement at Ballarat high I was able to plan and implement a unit on personal development or year nine students. This unit focused on topics such as Drugs and Alcohol, Sexual Education, Relationships, Peer Pressure, Risk-Taking Behaviour, Body Image and Team work.

The students completed a series of activities based around the topic that they were covering Drugs and alcohol, Sexual Education Relationships etc. They were then provided with a rubric (located to the left) and were asked to complete a series of tasks from this rubric. I believe that this rubric unit was so effective as it catered for the different types of learners (Visual, Spatial, Kinaesthetic) and gave students the opportunity to have a say and an input into what they were doing. As the layout of this rubric was so successful I took a similar approach to an English unit while on my final placement at St. John's.
